About haskala.net

Haskalah is the Hebrew term for the Jewish enlightenment, its movement and epoch.

The goal of haskala.net is to provide an internet presentation on the Jewish enlightenment, its protagonists and historical context.

For scholars, students and the wider public, haskalah.net strives to gather, document and present scholarly information on the Jewish enlightenment in the 18th and 19th centuries, much of which is not otherwise easily accessible.

At the same time, haskala.net hopes to serve as an international forum for scholarly research and discussion on the Jewish enlightenment. In this forum, current research and dissertation projects can be outlined and discussed, as well as other topics of interest, such as new publications.

Haskala.net also presents the results of several research projects carried out at the University of Potsdam. These were financed by the Ministry of the Interior, the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the State Minister at the Federal Chancellery for Media and Culture of the Federal Republic of Germany.
